My name is Tawny,

I am a kid at heart ... and I guess that's why I started writing for children. I was a preschool teacher for a few years until my oldest child was diagnosed with autism. I have 3 children. My 9 year old daughter has autism. The early years were really tough with the fits but as she ages they become far and few between and she is learning to somewhat control herself, most of the time. I have a 4 year old boy who recently went through open heart surgery down in miami, florida. We stayed at the Ronald McDonald house, which was a blessing, so if you come across the McDonald's charity box at the resturant, PLEASE DONATE. They really do help families in their times of need. I also have a 3 yr old daughter who is showing signs of asperger's syndrome, which is also on the autism spectrum, she's getting evaluated soon to confirm what I already know.

I would like to meet others affected by autism. I know it can be rough at times, I am here to lend an ear if any parents want to vent thier frustrations. Not everyone can be upbeat all the time when dealing with the ups and downs of having a child with autism, I understand that. Together we can keep making others aware and one day find a cure and a cause from which this growing epidemic began. But in the meantime, spread love and joy throughout this world we live in.

Last year I some how finished a 16 chapter children's fantasy book right before my son's open heart operation, which I created the illustrations for and of each character, all in about 2 months. It was 2 months of sleepless nights and constant creating but I believe I had alot of help from an awesome muse because this book is pretty cool! I still can't believe I wrote it...haha.

The books I am working on now are a set of children's stories that will help children facing certain health dilemas, ranging from open heart surgery like my son faced to autism to lukemia (which my cousin's son just died from in January,08). It will also be good for children that may have siblings or classmates with these conditions. All together they will be great to bring awareness to children who are lucky enough to have normal lives, and help to teach acceptance and tolerance.

Everyday is a struggle to get anything done, but I BELIEVE everything happens for a reason, and when the time is right. I am a very creative individual. I am just realizing my calling, and I believe in my talents. I truely believe everything happens for a reason and we learn through our experiences. Helping others is also a top priority for me... if I can.

I care about the earth, people and animals. What we are doing to the planet is a disgrace, and I hope we all awaken to the crisis and change the way we live for the greater good of humanity before it is too late. The very least people can do is recycle, and do not buy useless stuff you don't need! I am working on another children's fantasy chapter book that will hopefully awaken our children's eyes to make sure our planet is taken care of. From the smallest inhabitants of this earth, it will let children know, nothing we do is too small of a job, and as a whole we can change the world as we know it today. :)
